APPROXIMATE ROCKWELL HARDNESS
ATS-34  A very high carbon, chrome stainless steel with extra addition of molybdenum. Therefore very high little corrosion resistance. The edge remains good, but is more difficult to grind than lower chromium steels.  60-61
 AUS 6A

A medium to high carbon stainless steel, this steel has a good edge and is particularly well suited for heavy, long blades that are subjected to a lot of stress during the heels and the heavy work. It has a good edge retention and is fairly easy to sharpen.
Moderately resistant to corrosion.

 55-57
AUS 8 A Japanese stainless steel with unparalleled toughness and retains a good edge and is very corrosiebestendig.Dit steel is fairly easy to sharpen.  57-58
AUS 8A A high carbon content, low chromium stainless steel, which has proven to be the compromise between toughness and ultimate strength, edge, and maintain corrosion resistance.  57-59
BG-42 A high quality, reduced alloy type with significantly increased amounts of carbon and molybdenum plus vanadium for a better retention and strong edge. Easy to sharpen, with decent corrosion resistance.  61-62
Carbon V® This kind of low-alloyed stainless steel, is superior to most other steels because of the chemical composition. Reasonably good little corrosion resistance with superior edge retention makes this a premium steel for knives. This steel is particularly tough, and therefore harder to schlijpen than most stainless steels.  59
CPM S30V® This kind of low-alloyed stainless steel, is superior to most other steels because of the chemical composition. Reasonably good little corrosion resistance with superior edge retention makes this a premium steel for knives. This steel is particularly tough, and therefore harder to schlijpen than most stainless steels.   58-60
D2 These American-made and developed steel is specially designed for dee knives industry. It is a powder made from steel with a uniform structure and a high resistance against corrosion. Excellent edge retention and toughness makes this a first-class steel to one of the best all-round steel knives, a balance between the corrosion resistance, maintain good edge and grindability.  59-60
Damascus These air-hardened tool steel is sometimes called a "semi-stainless' steel because it contains 12% chromium. It provides good corrosion resistance with exceptional edge retention. It is more difficult to grind than most types of steel, but can be high gloss be polished. production is high. Damascus is usually used in special applications, such as decorative sheets.  Layers vary from 53-62
M2 This high-speed, is a tool shank and is Mainly used in the cutting tools in industrial applications. This metal is used to cut metal. With excellent strength, permanent hardness and a huge abrasion resistance, this is one of the Toughest what type of steel is used to make knives. The disadvantage of all of These toughness is thatthis stem kettle to gravel, and it is very corrosion-sensitive. All sheets are expected from this steel with a corrosion resistant coating, good corrosion resistance-which biedt Such a hard steel.
N690 An Austrian made in stainless steel and is similar to 440C in the performance. It provides a good edge and keeps his qualities with excellent corrosion resistance, and fairly easy grinding.
S30V These stainless stainless steel containing carbon in large amounts of chromium, molybdenum and vanadium. This steel is tempered twice to the hardness and edge retention. It has excellent corrosion resistance, but is more difficult to grind. &nbsp
Sandvik 12C27 This stainless steel made in Sweden. It is generally known as a premium steel for knives, offering a good balance of corrosion resistance, grindability and edge retention.
San Mai III San Mai means "three layers". It is a term used when talking about traditional Japanese swords and daggers. The laminate of different steels in the same blade. A high carbon content in the middle layer so that the strength and the edge is preserved, while the outer layers of a lower carbon steel are to provide flexibility.
X-15 T.N Developed for the aircraft industry for jet bearings and in the medical industry for scalpels. Holding this steel is resistant to corrosion in the worst conditions, and continues to be a good edge. Because of the excellent corrosion resistance, this steel is also ideal for knives which are used for water sports.

Karakter eigenschappen

Carbon Fiber This material is comprised of graphite fibers, and woven, fused with an epoxy resin. Providing ultra light weight and extreme tensile strength, it usually has a visible weave-like pattern. The weave pattern can be varied by the color of the epoxy resin that is used.
Delrin® This is a lightweight and durable polymer that was designed for an excellent long term wear properties. It can be configured to form and is used in many industries.
G-10 G-10 is an epoxy-filled woven "E" glass composite, reinforced with glass fibers for strength. Originally designed for printed circuit boards, but the blades industry offers a handle which is impervious to most of the elements such as oil, water, and acids. It can in many colors, and in different ways with different amounts of structures adapted for different uses.
Kraton® This black thermoplastic elastomer offers excellent flexibility and elasticity memory, even under severe conditions. Usually cast in a harder under construction, Kraton offers excellent grip and comfort.
Micarta Micarta technically described as "fabric-reinforced phenolic laminate", micarta is created by pouring a resin into a flat pan, then fixing of a strip of cloth or paper dust, which is saturated with the resin. This process is repeated until the desired thickness is achieved. It can in many colors, and light weight and can be finished in many ways, including polishing to a high gloss.
Noryl® GTX A modern, technical plastic with an extreme durability. It is resistant to aggressive environments and chemicals and is very strong. It does not have flexibility, but may be formed into any shape and in any color.
Phenolic This hard, ebony colored compound is nearly impervious to heat, cold and shock, making it virtually indestructible.
Valox® A reinforced resin with exceptional stiffness, Valox® provides strength and dimensional stability. It has excellent chemical and flame resistance.
Zytel® Zytel is made of fiberglass and nylon. The two are combined and heated to nearly 600 ° C and then injection molded into the desired shape. Strong and light, and it provides excellent surface grip.
