The ball-headed butcher's club was a common weapon as early as the early 16th century. She was particularly popular with the warrior tribes of the American East Coast. It is believed that the reason for the popularity of this weapon was that it was relatively easy to manufacture (metal was not or hardly needed) and above all incredibly effective! Cold Steel® President Lynn C. Thompson is an avid collector of wooden weapons, and tribal weapons in general, and when he spotted a beautiful ball-headed club made by cutler Rich McDonald, he jumped at the chance to work with it work and reproduce that stick for a modern audience. Cold Steels® Indian War Club is made of injection molded, impact and weather resistant polymer materials. This material is extremely impervious to all weather conditions and, unlike wood, will not rot, crack, chip or warp. Each Indian War Club is approximately 24" long. The ball has a diameter of approx. 8 cm and is equipped with a pointed, detachable steel spike. For historical reenactors, this Native American mace has a very realistic wood-look finish that can easily be painted and decorated with brass rivets or feathers as desired.
